What You Can Do

1) Get Involved With Voices

  • Come to Voices meetings - email Voices for details of next meeting.
  • Voices has a monthly letter writing group. Please join! Email Glenn at kcnl@globalnet.co.uk or write to him at 29 John St, Enfield, Middx, EN1 1LG. Click here for more
  • Buy badges/books/videos etc from the office or distribute our free literature.
  • Join and persuade others to go onto the voices mailing list and receive the latest campaign news and briefings.
  • Join our events!

2) Raise Awareness

  • Invite a speaker from voices to a meeting of your group
  • Hold a street stall - leaflets and materials available from voices
  • Write letters to local and national papers
  • Hold a vigil in a public place or other kind of action - see here for inspiration
  • Organise a film screening.
  • Encourage people to sign the petition on Jubilee Iraq - A new campaign calling for the Iraqi people to be freed from Saddam Hussein's debts and reparations, which are estimated to total almost $400bn. This works out at roughly $15,000 per Iraqi - many times their yearly income.

3) Parliamentary Action

  • Write to your MP, ask them to sign an Early Day Motion or occupy their office!
  • Ask your MP to forward your letter to the Foreign Office for a reply
  • Write to Foreign Secretary Jack Straw (Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Whitehall, London SW1A 2AH) and Secreatary of State for Defence Geoff Hoon (Ministry of Defence Old War Office Building Whitehall London SW1A 2HB) asking them to stop this immoral and illegal war and do all they can to safeguard the humanitarian needs of the Iraqi people. More details.
  • If you receive a reply from the Foreign Office, voices can help you respond to it - send us your letter for comments

4) Email Lists

5) Hold A Vigil

  • ARROW (Active Resistance to the Roots of War) has held a weekly vigil against sanctions on Iraq outside the Foreign Office in London since July 1991 and would welcome more vigilers - Mondays, 5.30-7pm, corner of King Charles Street and Whitehall (info 020 7607 2302). Regular vigils are being held all over the country against war on Iraq. Please let us know if you start a new vigil so we can pass the details on to other people in your area.

6) Start or join a Group

  • Many people have started local groups to campaign against war and sanctions on Iraq within their own areas. We can offer advice on how to go about setting up a group.
  • See the ARROW website or Stop the War website for details of an anti-war group near you.
